Circles press kit

In one sentence

Circles is a birthday reminder for the people around your friends — their partners, kids and parents — that tells you whose day it is and opens a ready message to the person you actually know.

Short description

Contacts store people one by one. Circles keeps the people around your friends: partners, kids, parents, their birthdays and who to message. Just say who’s who and an on-device model fills in the circle. In English, Spanish and Russian. No account, no ads.

Long description

Your phone knows Alex’s birthday. It doesn’t know Alex has a daughter who turns 9 today. Circles is built around people’s circles instead of a flat contact list: add a friend and the people in their life — spouse, kids, parents, siblings — with birthdays and anniversaries. A morning digest says “Alex’s daughter Emily turns 9 today” and opens a ready greeting to Alex, because that’s who you would text.

You can add a whole family by saying it: “Dave has a wife Jen, she turns 40 on March 3. Their son Leo is 6.” A small fine-tuned model runs on the phone and turns the note into people and dates in about a second; nothing is uploaded. Circles has no accounts and no servers. Backups are encrypted on the phone with the user’s own password before they go to Google Drive or iCloud.

The app launched in English, Spanish and Russian at once, with greetings that get the grammar right for each relation, for the many families who live in two languages.
